No it is not the same Flipper. There is a huge difference in letting someone control you and having something forced upon you. It seems like the majority of people here refuse to except personal accountability when it comes to doing what the WTS dictated or following it's every whim. Adults and the key word here is adults are not physically forced to follow the society. They had just as much chance as anyone else (especially this day and age) to look in to the society and see it for what it is. Many though just saw an easy road and took it....then after one day just re-awaking they realized what an ass they had been to not do the real research in the beginning. I am not saying I don't pity some weak ones with in the org, but it's far far far from "mind control" as so many on this board love to sensationalize it to be.

by new light incould anything have been more embarrassing?
you could be at the door of the least popular munger in school, but overwhelmed with envy because, hey, at least he was doing something normal.
in 8th grade, at the peak of childhood self-consciousness, i knocked on the door of a super popular, rich, "in" kid from my class and he answered the door.

I hated it! Fortunately it didn't happen often. Even when it did my friends were pretty cool about it. One time my Dad blew up on a classmates father who taught Karate and Jesus at the same time. I agreed with my Dad principle but it was so embarrassing. Thank god the girl and her Dad we're both tools and not someone I actually cared about.

Gadget case in point we are all here because at one point or another we decided for ourselves to look into things we "were not supposed too". Or some of the people here just left. None of us allowed the WTS to control us. We simply let them control us. Some of us never let them control us. As I stated before it's emotional pressure which is hard to deal with, but at the end of the day it's the Adult's choice. They are not physical forced in to these things.

This is a tough one, while I think that child abusers are the scum of the earth, I don't feel it is the states right to take a life. What about child abusers with severe emotional psychological issues? Do they deserve death for something they almost have no control over? It's a tough one.

It's just that news sells. They want something that sells as Hillbilly pointed out. Most news outlets are afraid to touch many main stream religious orinizations. Just look at how sensitively they are handling the Texas raid on that LDS faction.

It's probably just PR. The news and especially TV affiliates are afraid of looking like religious/ anti religious fanatics. If your simply going about it trying to "prove" the dubs are dangerous and a cult, you will get no where. You have to have something news worthy.

Sheri from THE VIEW absent AGAIN as CULTS are hot topic...
by sf inseems this woman is always, and i mean always, absent from topics related to religious conflicts.. again, today, when cultic behavior [ lds raid in texas] is discussed as a hot topic, she's not there.. a few weeks ago, there was the topic of the child that died due to the parents thinking god would heal her.
sheri was not there.. it's really starting to piss me off.. there have also been ample opportunities for her to speak out about abuse that goes on in jw religion.
she never takes it.. yesterday she reveals that when she had an opportunity to look at princes credit info, she took it.. i'm about to fire off an email and ask point blank, why she keeps avoiding (by being absent) these topics.. anyone else notice this about her?.

First let me state that I think the View is a horrible show, they shouldn't be informing people on anything. That being said I am a bit biased. However if it's her prerogative to not call out religions why do we care? She is trying to live like all of us and well is probably doing better financially then 90% of us on this board. She can do what ever she likes.

However religion does exist, for better or for worse, and so we have to make simple situations into complex ones. Again the question is: Does the mothers right to do what the hell she wants with her body because its hers, supercede the right of the newborn child to their natural mother?
100% yes. I think Scotsman has said it best. I would also like to add that what kills your argument is that in the U.K. and USA the laws state we have the right to supersede that of the newborn....so case closed.
